Fun DIY centrepiece with jelly

Flower arrangements can be particularly fun to make yourself – especially when there’s jelly involved! With just a few basic items, you can make the most impressive and colourful centrepieces suitable for all occasions.

You need:

  • Jelly mix or regular gelatin with food colouring of your choice
  • Water
  • Flowers
  • A stick like a wooden skewer
  • Clear glass containers or vases

Method:

  • Start by mixing the jelly as per the instructions on the package. If you are using regular gelatin, you can add some food colouring to make any colour you like.
  • Pour the jelly into your glass containers and place in the fridge.
  • You will need to let the jelly set halfway. If you allow it to set completely, you won’t be able to add the flowers. If you don’t let it set a little bit, it won’t hold the flowers in place.
  • While waiting for the jelly to partially set, you can prepare your flowers. You have the choice of using fresh or artificial flowers.
  • When your jelly is half set and your flowers are ready, remove the vases or containers from the fridge and arrange your blooms and foliage. Make sure that you use the right colour to complement the colour or colours of the flowers you use.
  • Place the arrangements back inside the fridge and allow the jelly to finish setting before you remove from the fridge and put on display.
