Decorate Easter eggs with pressed flowers

If you have some pretty flowers growing in your garden and you are looking for a new way to decorate Easter eggs this year, you will love this craft! All you need is a few basic items, including pressed flowers. Here are the easy steps to follow:

You need:

  • Hollowed eggs
  • Pressed flowers
  • Mod podge
  • Paint brush
  • Egg holders
  • Paint (optional)

Method:

  • First things first, you need to hollow out some eggs. The easiest way to do this is by making a small hole in the top and one in the bottom. Blow air into the top hole to force the contents of the egg out. You should allow your egg to stand for at least one day to make sure that no residue continues dripping out.
  • If you are using white eggs, you might like to leave them as they are or paint them a pretty pastel colour. If you are using brown or reddish eggs, you might want to paint them white. It will all depend on the colour of the flowers you intend on using. Make sure your paint suits the flower colour. You might need to apply more than one layer.
  • When your egg is prepared, place some mod podge into a bowl.
  • Spread your pressed flowers out so that they are easy to work with.
  • Spread some mod podge on the egg where you plan on placing a flower.
  • Dip the paintbrush in the mod podge again and use it to pick up one of your flowers. Stick the flower on the egg and spread the adhesive over it.
  • Continue in this way until you have decorated your egg completely.
  • Allow your eggs to dry in the egg holders and display them in your favourite spot or send as a gift.

This fun craft is perfect for children too. Working with fragile items like hollow eggs and pressed flowers will help teach them amazing skills and improve their dexterity. So, make a few extra just in case one or two should break. Take some time to explain the process and work on them together. Most importantly – have fun!
