Create your own fun Easter centrepiece

Easter is not too far away and, although many people feel stuck inside their homes, there are still ways in which we can make the most of this special time of year. Easter and the spring season go hand in hand which means that we get to enjoy a wealth of beautiful colours in our centrepieces. The best part about this Easter centrepiece is the fact that it is super easy to make and extra versatile in terms of the supplies needed. So, even if you cannot get your hands on fresh flowers, there is always a way around this!

You will need:

  • Fresh, silk or paper flowers (orange is ideal)
  • A short cylindrical vase or drinking glass
  • Small carrots (same length as the height of the vase)
  • Elastic band
  • Decorative ribbon

Method:

  • First, you will need to choose the right flowers for your Easter centrepiece. Orange flowers are ideal because they will complement the orange colour of the carrots that you will also use in this arrangement.
  • Examples of fresh flowers that you can use include tulips, roses and various types of daisies.
  • If you do not have fresh blooms, you can shop around for silk flowers. Alternatively, you can get crafty and create your very own paper flowers using colourful crepe paper and floral wire or pipe cleaners.
  • Once your flowers are ready, it’s time to prepare your vase. Make sure that it is clean and calculate the number of carrots you will need to cover the exterior all the way around.
  • Peel your carrots and trim their green tops. If possible, leave some green tips and arrange your carrots so that these tips are at the top.
  • Use an elastic band to hold your carrots in place.
  • Once you have covered your vase with carrots, you can conceal the elastic band with a decorative ribbon.
  • If you are using fresh flowers in your Easter centrepiece, you can add water to your vase. If you are using silk or paper flowers, you can skip this step.
  • Trim the stems of your flowers or bend them if they have flexible stems and arrange your blooms in the vase. If you are using fresh flowers, make sure that you trim the stems at an angle.

Now you can display your Easter centrepiece in your living room, dining room or even your kitchen. Place it anywhere you need a splash of colour. If you are using fresh flowers, don’t forget to check on them regularly. Change the water, retrim the stems and remove any dead or dying flowers promptly to prevent them from causing the other flowers to perish.
