How to create a gerbera daisy bouquet

Gerbera daisies are known for their bright colours and bold appearance. They can look amazing all on their own or combined with other flowers. You can also choose between a single colour and multiple colours when creating your bouquet. It’s completely up to you! Remember to keep the occasion and the recipient in mind if you are making this bouquet for a loved one.

You need:

– Gerbera daisies (one colour or multiple colours)

– Foliage (palm leaves and beargrass are ideal)

– Floral foam

– Plastic tray to hold the floral foam

– A pair of scissors

– Small basket

– Floral preserve

Instructions:

• As briefly mentioned above, choose the colour of your flowers carefully. Different colours convey different messages and this means that they are suited for different occasions. If you want to play it safe, you can choose three or more colours to create the perfect gerbera daisy bouquet. It’s also good to stick with an odd number of stems like five, seven, and so on.
• When you pair your flowers with a dark green foliage, you will allow the colours of the flowers to stand out even more. Palm leaves and beargrass are two fine examples of foliage you can use with gerberas.
• While planning your arrangemnet and preparing each stem, you should keep your flowers and foliage in a bucket of fresh water.
• Prepare your foam by dissolving some flower food in water as per the instructions. Once dissolved, soak your floral foam in the nutrient rich water until it is completely saturated.
• Place the soaked foam on the plastic tray so that it does not drip everywhere.
• As you arrange each stem, make sure that you trim the bottom of the stem at an angle. Remember not to trim too much because a portion of the stem will need to be inserted into the foam which means that they will appear shorter than they are.
• Start by arranging foliage around the base of the arrangement to conceal the plastic tray.
• Now add your flowers and alternate between colours so that you don’t have any clusters. Work your way from the bottom to the top of the arrangement and don’t worry about any small spaces between each flower. The important thing to remember is that you need to make sure that your flowers don’t crush one another.
• Once all of your flowers are in place, fill the gaps with foliage. Remember, don’t add too much foliage or your flowers will be concealed.
• Enjoy your bouquet and don’t forget to rehydrate the foam as soon as you notice that it’s getting dry. Remove any dead or dying plant material to prevent the rest of the bunch from going bad prematurely.
