Bucket of flowers – arrangement design tips

Fresh flowers can be displayed in so many different types of containers and vases. One example is a bucket or pail. These designs are excellent if you want to create a quaint or country-style design. You don’t have to be an expert to arrange a bucket of flowers. All you need is a few supplies and some imagination. Here are steps and tips you can follow to make your own display.

What you need:

  • Roses (pastel colours are best)
  • White blooms like daisies
  • Green pompom chrysanthemums
  • Solidago
  • Additional foliage of your choice

Method:

  • Keep in mind, when designing a bucket of flowers display, you want to keep everything as natural-looking as possible. In other words, you want to make the arrangement look like you were walking by some flowers and decided to pick a few.
  • Check your bucket and make sure that it is water proof. If not, all you need to do is insert a plastic jar, container or the bottom portion of a plastic bottle into the bucket so that it will not leak.
  • Fill the bucket, or your plastic container inside, with water and add some flower food.
  • Now begin by adding a few roses and make sure that they are spread out nicely. Trim the stems according to the height of the bucket and make sure you cut them at an angle to help aid in water absorption.
  • Now you can add some white daisies to accompany the roses. Again, trim them according to the height needed.
  • Follow this by adding your green pompoms. Not only will they add a touch of green, but they will also add amazing texture to the arrangement.
  • Finally, add solidago and foliage in between to fill up any gaps.

Remember, when arranging a bucket of flowers, you want to make sure that you do not overcrowd the pail itself. You don’t want the flowers and foliage to become squashed together. This will not only look unattractive, but it will also damage the flowers. Think of a boutique versus a department store. When you visit a boutique, all of the clothes are neatly hanging on the racks and there is more than enough space between each item. Department stores are crammed as full as possible which makes it difficult to remove a single item without dropping a few in the process. The same goes for your bouquet. Keep it simple, clean and uncluttered.
